Michael Lohan Charged with Domestic Violence

Michael Lohan is due in court, but not for his daughter Lindsay Lohan's sake.

The actress's father, 50, has been formally charged with one count of misdemeanor domestic violence, stemming from his arrest Monday, after a female accused him of hitting her in a nearby apartment. The victim was reportedly his ex-girlfriend Kate Major.

Michael Lohan was initially arrested for three felonies, including false imprisonment, but the Los Angeles District Attorney's office declined to pursue those charges.

Lohan ? who was released Tuesday afternoon from L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for problems not related to the incident ? is scheduled to appear at Beverly Hills Court for his arraignment on May 23.
