Actress Elizabeth Taylor?s private funeral was held on Thursday, with the service beginning late at the actress? request.
Legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor, who died on Wednesday at age 79, was laid to rest on Thursday in Glendale.
Taylor?s rep explained the funeral service starting late: ?The service was scheduled to begin at 2 pm but at Miss Taylor?s request started late. Miss Taylor had left instructions that it was to begin at least 15 minutes later than publicly scheduled, with the announcement, ?She even wanted to be late for her own funeral.??
Elizabeth?s funeral service was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetary in Glendale, California, with her body buried in the Great Mausoleum, underneath a marble Michelangelo angel.
Her funeral included poetry readings by her friends and family including actor Colin Farrell, her son Michael Wilding Jr., grandson Tarquin Wilding and her daughter Liza Burton Tivey. Her grandson Rhys Tivey also played a trumpet solo of ?Amazing Grace.?
The actress? casket was closed and covered with gardenias, violets and lily of the valley flowers.
There will reportedly be a public memorial service, which will be announced soon.
