LOS ANGELES - An alleged gang member in South Los Angeles was shot seven times by other gang members who drove up in two cars, got out and fired at him, then got back in and drove away, a police lieutenant said today.
The shooting, at about 10 p.m. Monday, was at 66th Street and Estrella Avenue, 77th Street Station Lt. Peter Casey said.
The victim -- described as being in his 20s -- was wounded four times in the shoulder, once in each hand and one time in a foot and was listed in stable condition at a local hospital.
It was not known if the shooters were from rival gangs or if the attack was a dispute within a gang, he said.
There were at least four suspects in the two cars, Casey said.
He noted the victim was not cooperating with investigators, as is common in gang shootings.
