Michael Douglas was a no-show in court Tuesday, but his ex, Diandra Douglas, appeared.Michael Douglas and his ex-wife aren't done sliming each other in their battle over a "Wall Street" bonus.
Lawyers for the Oscar-winning actor on Tuesday trashed Diandra Douglas' renewed bid to get a 50% cut from the 2010 sequel to "Wall Street," saying she's on a shameless money grab after already collecting more than $50 million from her ex.
"This is not a case that has merit," said Marilyn Chinitz, a lawyer for Michael Douglas. "This is a case of who has the deep pockets."
Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Matthew Cooper last year tossed Diandra Douglas' case, saying it belonged in California, where the couple divorced in 2000 after 23 years of marriage.
Chinitz pointed out that the ailing actor's ex is selling a palatial spread in Southern California..
"We don't have to feel sorry for a woman who's going to sell her house for $30 million on top of everything else she's received," Chinitz said.
But a lawyer for Diandra Douglas said the case belongs in New York, because the single mother of three can't face a long trial in California.
"It's like Mr. Douglas is going to fight her to the end," Nancy Chemtob said. "This could be a four-month trial."
Besides, Chemtob said, Michael Douglas is a liar who didn't reveal to the court that his primary residence is a newly purchased $5.5 million home in Bedford, N.Y.
"Mr. Douglas is cancer-stricken, tragically, and she has the audacity to imply that we misled the court," Chinitz fired back. "He has to stay here."
Michael Douglas was a no-show in court, but his ex appeared and afterward said she's sick of the "mudslinging."
"I've always behaved as a lady and I always intend to do so in the future," Diandra Douglas said.
