Critic's Corner Weekend: 'Night Out' for country's girls

You have to admire an awards show that cuts to the chase. Like, say, Girls' Night Out: Superstar Women of Country (CBS, tonight, 9 ET/PT), which honors female country superstars for being female country superstars.

Among those honored are Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, Reba McEntire and Carrie Underwood? who are also expected to perform.

?Diane Lane, Tim Robbins and James Gandolfini star in Cinema Verite (Saturday, 9 ET/PT), an HBO movie about the making of what may have been TV's first reality show: the PBS series An American Family.

Lane and Robbins head up the family; Gandolfini plays the filmmaker.

?Everwoodstars Emily VanCamp and Treat Williams reunite for Beyond the Blackboard (CBS, Sunday, 9 ET/PT), a fact-based Hallmark Hall of Famepresentation about a young woman (VanCamp) who teaches at a homeless shelter.

Williams plays the school district's helpful superintendent.
