Christina Aguilera told W that sometimes she feels like 'singing out' all of her 'troubles.'

Though police said an intoxicated Christina Aguilera was taken into custody in March for her own safety, the singer herself has accused the authorities of arresting her for entertainment.

"The police knew my recent history and wanted to jump on the bandwagon," the singer said in the July issue of W, where she discussed the series of mishaps ? from a bungled Super Bowl performance to a fall at the Grammys ? that have plagued her lately.

"I don't mean to martyr myself, but I think I was a victim of celebrity," Aguilera said. "I don't drive, I wasn't driving, and I committed no crimes, but they put me in jail."

"They called me a 'political hot potato,'" she alleged. "They said, 'What are we going to do with this woman?' I think they were bored that night."

FORMER DISNEY STARS - WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

The 30-year-old singer also offered up an excuse for an incident at actor Jeremy Renner's house in January, where Aguilera reportedly passed out drunk in his bed.

According to her, Aguilera attended the party as the date of her boyfriend, Matthew Rutler.

"It was an open party, and everyone was spread out all over the house. At one point I sat on the edge of a bed [in] a guest room," she recalled. "But it only takes one person to start the negativity, and then everyone wants to hop aboard and continue the story."

While some have speculated that Rutler, whom she met on the set of "Burlesque," has been a negative influence on the pop star, Aguilera suggested it's quite the opposite.

"I could depend on him for everything," she told W. "Matt was working on the movie, and he was so supportive. And he still is. We've been through a lot in the past year."

Ironically, Aguilera declared that not depending on anyone ? namely, her ex-husband Jordan Bratman ? while making her acting debut was a life-changing experience.

"When I first met my husband, I needed that helping hand to take the reins and look after me," she explained. "After the movie, I grew out of being that little girl: I became more of an adult."

Aguilera gave some insight into her surprising split with Bratman last year, noting that "at one time or another, we were both not angels."

The couple had wed in 2005 and welcomed son Max in 2008.

"It got to a point where our life at home was reminding me of my own childhood. I will not have my son grow up in a tension-filled home," she said.

"I knew there would be a negative reaction in the press to my divorce, but I am not going to live my life because of something someone might say," she continued. "That goes against everything I sing on my records. I have to be myself."

And for Aguilera, being herself includes one surprising quirk.

"I laugh a lot lately," she said. "People expect me to cry, but I always laugh when things go wrong."

The July covers of W are split between Aguilera and fellow singer Beyonce. Both versions of the magazine hit newsstands on June 21.
